Mark is currently teaching at the Carcassonne Conservatoire (La Fabrique des Arts) the following classes:

  • Musiques du monde - an introduction, both theoretical and practical, to ethnomusicology and various traditions of world music
  • Harmonisation au clavier - for intermediate-level pianists, how to re-create or invent popular song accompaniments by ear, rather than resorting to sheet music arrangements
  • Gamelan javanais - currently being used as a resource for the département de culture et créativité so that all students do a four-week module as part of their basic musicianship classes.
  • Ecriture, composition, arrangement - with an emphasis on original composition, exploring traditional notation as well as text and graphic scores, and sound art.
  • Piano - individual lessons for elementary and intermediate-level pianists, looking at a wide range of historical styles, contemporary music, improvisation and composition

Rebecca Clarke, the composer, violist and feminist active in the early 20th century developed a musical language full of romanticism, exoticism and polytonality. Mark Lockett's "Revolutionary Objects" are based on the French revolutionary calendar which was imposed 1793 until 1806.
